Alps Kiosks now offers a variety of systems that meet the new FDA rules for caloric and nutritional disclosure. Alps website has been enhanced with a new section for “FDA Compliance” to help operators better understand the new 2016 laws and regulations that will affect the industry.

“Alps has worked with vending operators for over 15 years, and has created some of the most exciting and innovative systems in the industry,” said a senior spokesman of Alps Kiosks. “Our new FDA-Compliant solutions will help vending operators with new technologies that enhance the customer experience and provide sales and marketing insight to system owners.”

ALPS FDA-Compliant vending solutions utilize a powerful internal computer, proprietary software and smart technology to amass data to better understand consumer buying habits, and compiles this valuable information for system owners, retailers, brand owners, entrepreneurs and marketers.

From our patented wireless communications, to our innovative touchscreens that display product information and nutritional values, ALPS simply has the most exciting machines in the industry.”

ALPS has created vending and self-service automated retailing solutions for some of the biggest brands in the world, and its systems have garnered more acclaim than can be counted. The New Era of Intelligent Vending

The New Era of Intelligent Vending

Notes from the NAMA One Show

We were recently at the NAMA One Show, and one message was delivered clearly and often: Embrace technology.

Vending operators are focusing on technology to run their businesses more smoothly and gain profits; they are also using technology to offer intelligent vending solutions including digital advertising, promotions, nutrition facts and multi-option payment methods for one integrated consumer experience.

Intelligent vending

Technology integration is increasing in the vending industry. In its 2014 State of the Vending Industry report, Automatic Merchandiser magazine found that 24 percent of vending operators added remote monitoring while 54.8 percent installed credit and debit card readers. In fact, it’s estimated that nearly 10 percent of vending machines in the U.S. are cashless enabled, compared to only 3.5 percent of machines equipped with cashless readers in 2010. This number is expected to continue to grow.

During her opening session during the OneShow in April, NAMA CEO Carla Balakgie encouraged vending operators not to hesitate when it comes to cashless. “Cashless gives you a 21 percent increase in sales,” she said. But cashless is just one form of technology in a new era of vending. Operators have more choices than ever when it comes to the right vending management system (VMS) or remote machine monitoring. They are using backend systems to make their companies more efficient and collecting and analyzing data to grow profits.

Vending operators have been using technology to compete with c-stores and big-box retailers for the consumer dollar and that includes offering an integrated experience at the vending machine.

The fully integrated experience

In order to compete with convenient retail solutions, vending machine manufacturers have also been developing solutions that integrate a plethora of consumer expectations in the form of touchscreens, multi-payment options, a flexible inside, a customized outside, promotions and advertising.

Today’s vending machine feature touchscreens that draw the consumer in and can be enabled with promotions and loyalty features. Screens can display calorie information to the user who can also bundle purchases. Multi-option payment methods such as mobile, cash and debit/credit cards also make purchasing convenient for the end-user. When not in use, operators can enable advertisements play on some of the more current machines.

Multi-year relevance

The vending machine is no longer a singular black box. Instead it can interact with consumers through social media, offer promotions, utilize the “shopping cart” feature, accept mobile payments and vend nearly everything. The vending technology evolution will continue for future generations of vending users.

Pharmabox Introduces Boldly Designed Automated Retailing System

Pharmabox, has introduced the world’s 1st automated drugstore. The unique self-service kiosk carries over 140 top selling brand name items typically found in a local pharmacy, Target, CVS, Walgreen’s or Rite Aid-type store.

As published in the South Florida Business Journal, Miami-based Pharmabox worked to develop a uniquely designed vending machine that features all the latest technologies, including cashless payment systems, interactive screens that display complete product information, and wireless backend management systems. The company calls their system, “A Pharmacy at Your Fingertips.”

There are many opportunities for entrepreneurs within the automated retailing industry. “There has never been a better time for creative-thinking entrepreneurs to start a new business using an automated store distribution model,” an industry spokeman commented. “Virtually anything that can be imagined can be modeled into a fully automated system that can generate sales 24-hours a day.”

The Consumer Healthcare Products Association (CHPA), states that U.S. consumers make 26 trips a year to purchase OTC medicines. That’s a terrific number of repeat customers, making this a great business model.

Pharmabox plans to deploy the innovative units in high-traffic locations throughout the nation, including airports, hotels, business centers, transportation hubs, apartment complexes, college campuses and dormitories, fitness centers, hospitals, sports stadiums, and retail stores.

At Alps Kiosk Innovations, one of our key specialties is in taking an idea, applying our expertise, and making an entrepreneur’s dream come true.

ALPS Kiosks Makes a Splash at NAMA

This year’s OneShow made a successful return to Las Vegas, building upon the momentum of 2013’s Vegas run and last year’s Chicago extravaganza. The National Automatic Merchandising Association said the strong turnout for its vending, micromarket and coffee trade show reflects the industry’s vibrant revival.

Held from April 22 to 24 at the Las Vegas Convention Center, the OneShow exhibit area measured 70,000 square feet, 3% larger than the prior year’s show floor. NAMA said it was the largest OneShow in terms floor space. NAMA also reported 75 first-time exhibitors and 250 total, as well as 4,600-plus registered participants.

Themed “The Industry’s ExPeerience of the Year,” the OneShow’s educational lineup, exhibit floor and networking events were structured to enable operators to interact with and learn from their industry peers, hear from segment experts, and evaluate new tools and resources. NAMA president and chief executive Carla Balakgie and NAMA chairman Pete Tullio teamed up to deliver the convention’s opening address during the general session on April 22.

They identified the association’s most pressing priorities for the year ahead as “playing offense” on the legislative front and helping operators harness technology to drive growth in their businesses.

Jay Leno delivered a monologue at the NAMA One Show.

He kept people laughing for almost an hour. Just prior to going onstage, Leno stopped by and saw the vending machine for Canna Energy Drink. Jay made some comments about “no wonder everyone is so happy,” and even joked about the machine in his monologue.
